GoFoods and Youngevity have teamed up to bring you the very best in survival foods. (News Article) You ask: Why do I need survival food? Can’t I just stock up food from the local grocery store? If you are like most people you do not see any reason to stock up on food much less make it survival food. You don’t have to stock up on food if you really don’t want to. If you need food you can just run to the local grocery store and purchase all the food you want. Everyday the store shelves get restocked with more food so if they run out of something you can always go back the next day and the food will be there.
In a perfect world we do not have to stock up on food. Also what makes a difference if the food is store-bought food or this stuff they call survival food. The problem is we do not live in a perfect world. Every day our world is changing. We have grown dependent on the local grocery store to supply us with all the fresh food that we need any time we need it. Run out of pancakes for breakfast, just run to the store and get some. You can get the batter and mix up a batch yourself or purchase the ones in the frozen section that are just heat and serve.
What would happen if one day you woke up and your world was turned upside down. What would happen if the whole world was turned up side down? I want you to think back a couple of years and remember some things that did shake up parts of the world. One of them happened close to home for me.
Hurricane Katrina Shook Up Gulf Coast
Right before hurricane Katrina made landfall in South East Louisiana and Southern Mississippi people were buying up food and water. A day before Katrina made landfall just about all the grocery store shelves were bare and not a bottle of water could be found. People were grabbing everything in sight just in case of the worst case scenario happening. Gas stations ran out of gas, hardware stores sold out of generators and small air conditioners. Everywhere you turned people were getting close to a panic because the things they were use to be able to buy anytime they wanted to suddenly came to a screeching halt. The hurricane came crashing through and by the next day when the winds started to settle over one million people’s lives were changed. New Orleans was under water, cities and towns along the Mississippi Gulf coast were wiped off the map. Hundreds of thousands of people now homeless and without food and water.
Our Government To The Rescue?
With New Orleans under water and people homeless and fleeing to the New Orleans Super Dome because their homes were either under 10 feet of water or just not there anymore. Where ever there was high ground the people were fleeing to it. For three days to a week people had no food and very little drinkable water. Stores got looted and what little food that was left was now gone. We watched on TV as people all across the Gulf Coast were in horror because there was no food, water or electricity much less gas to put in your car. Life as we know it for over a million people was changed over night. It was such a large disaster that our United States government could not handle the situation. As for me living 50 miles away from all this devastation I had my little generator to power my one room air conditioner and radio. I had no electric for over a week. I was lucky to have had a generator plus a stockpile of gas to run it. I also had a stockpile of canned food and plenty of water. I was lucky but hundreds of thousands of people were now starting to starve by the 3rd day after Katrina did all its damage.
No FOOD and very little water for several days. This tragedy demonstrates we cannot depend on our government to be there when we need them. We all have to take personal responsibility for our own survival. If each person had a 3 to 7 day kit of GoFoods things would have been different. The GoFoods survival kits easily fits into a hand carry bag. Add a couple of bottles of water and you are good to go.
For less than $100 you can have a travel bag or backpack ready to go in case of an emergency. You grab that on the way out the door. If you get stuck in the attic of your house like so many people did then you at least had some food. Many houses in areas of New Orleans had over 10 feet of water in them. People had to flee to their attics or second floor if they were lucky to have their house still standing.
My Point Is: Be Prepared and hope you never have to use your GoFoods emergency supplies. Better safe then sorry!
The starvation of so many people could have been avoided if they had a one week survival kit with food and water. This should have been a wake up call for all of us. One day we may wake up and our would as we know it is no longer. It may be a large natural disaster or it could be an induced attack on our country from within. All it would take is another 9/11 and our world as we know it could be changed. I remember that panic also. Store shelves were wiped clean of bread and water within hours of the 9/11 attack. Our country is blessed but one day our blessing could be turned into a curse. Most people only have about 3 days to a weeks supply of food in their kitchens on hand. We have grown to accept that if we need something to eat we can run to the store and get it.
One day this could all change.
If it does I want to make sure I have at least a one years supply of food for me and my family.
